NASCAR: Tips for Non-Racing Fans Living With NASCAR Fans

Every year, NASCAR fans from all over the United States start behaving like children. If you live with a 39-year old NASCAR fanatic, don’t be surprised if he or she starts acting like a 12-year old during the NASCAR season.

One of the things that you need to expect from a racing fan during the NASCAR season is that he or she will start having problems in communication. He or she will show a temporarily impaired ability to carry out a good conversation especially when the race is on. You might even experience having the things you said fall on deaf ears.

So, if you don’t want to lose it and start wearing a straight jacket, here are some of the things that you can do in order for you to cope with race fans that you are living with during the NASCAR season.

The first rule is that you should never walk in front of the television. NASCAR race fans don’t like that and you will never hear the end of it. Just let it go for now.

If you want to be heard, throw in something that sounds like NASCAR in your sentences. One such word is drafting. Use words like this and the racing fan may actually hear what you have to say.

Unless you want to go out alone on a Sunday during the race season, never ask the race fan to accompany you on where you want to go. Expect that the race fan will be glued to their seats for hours during the race. He or she may even ask his or her fellow race fans to join in on the fun.

Expect the race fan to act like a 12 year old kid during the race and expect the same thing from his or her fellow race fans that he or she’s invited over. They’ll be loud, rowdy and irrational. If they misbehave, try saying that they’ve reached the yellow flag and if you can’t take it anymore, say that they’ve reached the red flag or if someone from the group starts behaving like a complete jerk and is making a complete mess of all things, tell them that someone got the black flag, which means that someone has to leave.

Sunday is the perfect time to relax right? So, if you want to listen to your music during NASCAR season, try investing in a good pair of headphones.

These are the things that you have to remember about NASCAR. If you do decide to join in on the fun, don’t ask a lot of questions about the race, rules and the cars. This can be irritating for race fans.

Remember these things, and you can be sure that you’ll survive the NASCAR season as a non-race fan.
